Environmental Ethos
Environmental Mission statement; "reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink, rationalise, rework, recover, responsibility"

It is easier to change behaviour by practicing it rather than knowing about it. "It is easier to act your way into a new way of thinking than think your way into a new way of acting".

Our Environmental Policy is a way of doing things that was brought to the business when it first opened and is intrinsically woven into the way it operates and informs every decision made.

As a visitor destination welcoming a broad spectrum of guests from restaurant and deli customers to families, friends, babies, business people, community groups, academics, students and pets of assorted shapes and sizes we recognise that our waste and natural resource use are significant negative impacts. Much of what we do to minimise and control these impacts are done behind the scenes by our dedicated, trained and inspired young team via auditing, target setting and clear objectives to minimise these impacts. Frequently we are asked, 'is it hard to do?' to which we reply it is embedded in the business and quite simply a way of life that is vital to our success and sustainability as a tourism business. After all successful tourism depends on great environments!

All our staff and suppliers are made aware of our commitment to the environment literally on introduction whether applying for a job or seeking to sell us local produce. Regular training, staff visits, supplier scrutiny letters of engagement all keep the ethos and standards to the fore and help develop great trusting relationships with real integrity.

And the policy doesn't stop at our garden gate as we work with both public and private sectors to improve the local and wider community. In our food operations the chefs not only work with local suppliers but look to conservation issues to inform our menus. Visiting farms, cheese makers, estates, fisheries and natural habitats to quality check and gain firsthand knowledge of the foods they are using and serving.

At Stratton's Hotel we are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as possible. Our efforts have been designed specifically to have both positive and little or no impact on your stay at Stratton's Hotel as it is important to us that we do not limit the enjoyment of your stay with us.

We embrace our wonderful setting in the Norfolk Brecks and hope you really enjoy all that we have sought out within the landscape to tickle the taste buds, lift the soul and generally engage all the senses.

Strattons complies with all relevant legislation and regulations relating to the environment and health and safety.

We really wish you a great stay,

Strattons, Ash Close, Swaffham, Norfolk, PE37 7NH
