Jo Halpin Jones is a West Norfolk photographer with a rapidly increasing reputation for her landscape, seascape and abstract images. When Jo turned towards a photographic career in 2000, it was the Norfolk coast with its enormous skies, and the beautiful north coast hinterland that provided the initial inspiration for her work. The Norfolk landscape continues to appeal, but Jo’s photographic travels now take her all over the world.

Weeting Steam Engine Rally & Country Show

July 18th - 20th inclusive
Gates open from 10am each day.
Adults £8.00 & Under 14's Free
Discounted Senior Citizen rates

If you are looking for a fascinating and nostalgic family day out, look no further than the Weeting Steam Engine Rally and Country Show.

This year, to help celebrate 40 years, you should expect to have some of the original engines from the first Weeting Rally steaming around the showground.

There will be parades of steam traction engines and steam lorries, vintage tractors and fire engines. Working steam powered farmyard machines, a full sized steam train on rails, a model steam train (which takes passengers round a rack) and small steam models including boats on a pond.

There will be static displays of vintage cars, motorbikes and military vehicles. Demonstrations of steam ploughing can be seen, which uses two traction engines at either end of the field pulling a plough by cable backwards and forwards over the ground, steam threshing of corn, again using a traction engine as its power source, steam powered sawmill and stone crushing and farmyard implements of a bygone era.

Ploughing and cultivating demonstrations can also be seen, using vintage tractors and horses and will be taking place throughout the weekend.

The Snakewood Dog Agility Team will give regular demonstrations in their own separate arena and are a great attraction. The team will also perform a fun and fast 'knock out competition' in the main arena each day.

The Community Tent will house a number of museums and local organisations who host displays and interactive amusements for our visitors. There will also be a craft marquee and of course many trade stands to wander around at your leisure.

Helicopter flights have proved to be popular way to get a birds-eye view of the whole show and some of the surrounding area. We also have old time fairground rides as well as new rides, bouncy castles, mini quad bikes and many other bits and pieces to keep each member of the family entertained.
We have two bars on the showground which are open until 11pm on Friday & Saturday night and 5pm on Sunday.

'Dr Busker' makes a welcome return to the rally this year and will be your Friday night entertainment in the main bar.

The Burrell Restaurant will be open all day along with catering stands around the grounds for a variety of formal and non-formal food.

Elveden Food Hall

Just visited the Elveden food hall and was so impressed with the array of local food particularly from the Elveden estate itself. The estate has been owned by the Guiness family since the 1890's and currently comprises 22,000 acres and includes the parishes of Elveden, Eriswell and Icklingham. The estate is involved in agriculture, conservation, hedging and the production of root vegetables. The estate also grows christmas trees including the annual supply of trees to royalty, as well as national landmarks such as St.Paul's, London Bridge and other civic centres.
On sale in the shop are game, venison, honey, beers and veggies from the estate including the Countesses rare breed meats and eggs but many other delicious food products from the locality. The cafe too serves great food based on this simple ethos. It's a Great place to drop into on the way to London and safe and interesting for the kids too. Visit them online at www.elveden.com
